NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Senior Accountant, General Ledger based in our Daytona Beach, Florida office.

The Senior Accountant is responsible various aspects of the month-end close process, chart of account maintenance, performance of consolidation activities, reporting, and certain compliance processes related to the general ledger function.

Essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Month-end close responsibilities including preparing and posting journals entries, preparing various calculations to determine monthly adjustments, preparing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, preparing variance analysis, and assisting with preparation of various financial reports.
  • Recognition and deferral of revenue and expenses in accordance with GAAP.
  • Determines and records various expense accruals.
  • Reviews inter-company transactions and ensures proper recording over assigned areas.
  • Reviews and posts entries submitted by other accounting functional areas.
  • Records race payout accruals and works with race payout team to ensure accuracy thereof.
  • Prepares government census reports and various other regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Prepares quarterly commercial rent tax return and Canadian QST, HST, and PST returns.
  • Provides accounting support for non-profit organization. Includes posting entries, reconciling accounts, preparing variance analysis, and supporting audit requests.
  • Obtains and reviews required support schedules for annual audits.
  • Seeks ways to use technology and improve processes for areas of responsibility.
  • Supports and develops ongoing training for employees on areas assigned.
  • Handles other projects, duties, analysis, and ad hoc reporting requested. 
  • Identifies and drives improvement opportunities and works closely with Director, Corporate Accounting to ensure improvement opportunities are implemented to provide timely and accurate information.

Required Experience / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of related accounting experience and/or training. Two years of public accounting experience highly preferred. CPA certified, or CPA eligible candidate also preferred. 
  • Proficient in generally accepted accounting principles and application.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products with advanced knowledge of Excel required.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and reasoning ability.
  • Ability to identify accounting problems and generate reasonable solutions.
  • Must also have good oral and written communication skills as well as excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to meet deadlines with a positive attitude and work ethic.
