Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
This position leads Supervisory Relations efforts across Synchrony. Responsibilities include exam management, regulatory findings guidance, and regulatory communications. This leader will maintain comprehensive supervisory activity reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors. The role involves significant interaction and coordination with personnel from all regulatory agencies. The position requires people management, thought leadership and persuasive communication.
Essential Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary regulatory liaison and point of contact for Synchrony.
Lead a team of Supervisory Affairs professionals at Synchrony Financial and grow and develop talent on the team.
Coordinate exams, issue resolution, and regulatory requests for information across functional areas. Includes pre-exam information requests, personnel coaching, and exam logistics. Ensure timely & appropriate responses to questions, requests, exam reports, and management responses to findings.
Guide efforts to respond to and validate resolution of regulatory findings.
Oversee ongoing monitoring and reporting of regulatory issues and interactions for executive management and the Board.
Ensure consistency of regulatory materials and messaging.
Drive awareness of and preparation for regulatory activity across the business.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or related field and 12+ years of experience in working in a bank-supervised environment, either as an employee of a regulated banking organization, a consultant to a regulated banking organization, or a bank supervisor/examiner.
2+ years of experience demonstrating highly developed people skills in both team leadership and managing sensitive relationships.
Persuasive communications skills demonstrated across boundaries and multiple layers of the organization.
5+ years of project management experience
This role is required to be in Stamford, CT one week every other month, on average, or as needed.
Desired Characteristics:
10+ years of experience as an examiner with either a Federal Reserve Bank, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency or the FDIC.
MBA or equivalent; Finance/accounting, risk and/or Treasury background.
A combination of public-sector and private-sector experience.
Ability to manage multiple, competing demands and competing audiences and work independently to meet deadlines.
Energetic and motivated to address high-visibility issues on behalf of Synchrony.
Grade/Level: 15
The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
