This position will perform a combination of cost analysis on production and engineering contracts to ensure accurate financial performance from inception to completion for our various programs and aligns with the company's forecast for Orders, Revenue, and Gross Margin. In addition, provide limited general accounting support at month end closings. Overall activities include preparation of bids and proposals for Firm Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable programs, preparation of contract costs estimate at completes (EAC), preparation of monthly journal entries, analysis of invoicing, and assignment of account coding and approval of expenditures.

This position will support our office in Columbia City, IN.

Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Leads forecasting and variance analysis of financial performance for program EACs (Estimate at Completion)
  • Conducting program risk assessments, what-if analysis and supporting monthly program EAC meetings
  • Cooperates and partners with other internal organizations including, but not limited to program management, contracts, FP&A, supply chain and operations
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of government contracting vehicles to ensure execution is compliant
  • Contributes to accounting month-end business rhythm through driving key financials (i.e. revenue, cost of goods sold and gross profit booking) and ensuring financial information has been recorded accurately.
  • Can provide problem-solving skills that will enable process improvements and data-driven metrics

Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in finance
  • Previous work experience in Aerospace & Defense industry and/or Government contracting
  • Minimum 4 - 7 years of experience in financial analysis, contributing to moderately complex aspects of a project and leadership skills

Desired Skills:

  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel. 
  • Experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing environment preferred. 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (i.e. Epicor)
  • Willing to dive in and learn complex software systems.
  • Detail oriented & self-motivated.
  • Good problem solver with ability to identity root cause.
  • Willing to work with diverse teams with multiple priorities.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized and good time management.
  • Continuous improvement experience a plus.
  • MBA, CPA, or CMA desired but not mandatory.
