Details of Manager responsibilities:
Cyber Software Engineer Manager
The Cyber Software Engineering Manager 1 will support the Chantilly site programs in developing and managing software activities across various active projects and programs.
The work is unique, challenging and rewarding. Most of all, it is work that makes a difference.
The functional manager will lead a team working within the Chantilly, VA E&S department. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees to accomplish organizational goals, deliver program results, and align with company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and compensation, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary. The manager is responsible for periodic review, update, and definition of technical process documents.
The manager will be expected to provide and perform technical support. It is anticipated that given the size of the functional team, the split between technical and functional management duties will be on average approximately 80% technical / 20% functional. The direct program support may include technical activities such as IPT leadership and/or any other appropriate technical function.
Functional management responsibilities include staffing support/allocation, performance and compensation management, and career goals development.
Supporting the software life cycle engineering execution to include design, development, test/integration, and deployment/sustainment activities.
Accountable to stakeholders and program managers for project status reviews, impediments / roadblock resolution, and the overall engineering / product quality execution.
Partnering with the program management office to ensure successful execution while accounting for cost, schedule, and resources management targets.
Providing technical leadership to the execution team to ensure that best practices as well as the applicable engineering processes and procedures are fully and adequately implemented.
Supporting the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement.
Supporting the development and implementation of a critical skills growth strategy focused on building world class execution teams.
The successful candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, quick response, work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and possess the ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple teams across all technical levels. The candidate must be able to lead the way to maintain and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
Basic Qualifications:
An active Secret clearance or higher is required to be considered and prior to start.
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of experience within a related engineering field.
Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and the ability to lead a diverse multi-disciplinary team with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.
Experience with the full software development engineering life cycle (SDLC).
Strong written, oral communication, and organizational skills
Time management skills and a proven ability to follow through with commitments.
Preferred Qualifications:
An active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
Master’s degree or PhD in a related engineering field or management specialty with 3 years relevant experience.
Experience leading engineering teams of 6 or more or previous functional management experience.
Experience with Agile software development, software integration and/or software testing.
Experience with project management software for agile development and tasking (e.g., Jira or Azure DevOps).
Hands-on experience with object-oriented development and practices.
Experience with software CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins.
Software experience to include designing and implementing solutions with minimal formal requirements.
The ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently solve problems in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
