In this position, you will assist our MacKay River operations in Fort McMurray by ensuring the daily operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and reliably within the designated area.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two or more years of refinery experience

  • Passed the 4th Class Operating Engineer Exams (4A and 4B)

  • Completed 4th Class, 3rd Class, or 2nd Class ticket would be preferred

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • In-depth knowledge of all regulatory ABSA requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of people, equipment, and the environment and that plant policies are followed

  • Perform plant operation duties for smooth and efficient operations

  • Ensure plant-related issues beyond your scope are appropriately flagged to your leader

  • Prepare and complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findings to your leader in a timely manner

  • Provide direction and supervision to the maintenance and contract personnel as required

  • Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs

  • Prepare equipment and systems for maintenance and commission

  • Ensure the shift change is communicated well

  • Maintain housekeeping at a high level

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our MacKay River site in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

  • This position is safety sensitive

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
