Job Summary

As a Payroll Manager, you will contribute to a wide variety of projects involving the integration and implementation of payroll system design. You will lead, coordinate and execute one or multiple project efforts related to the US payroll function, with a focus on continuous improvement. This includes but not limited to projects relating to payroll year-end, new payroll technology/service implementation, payroll remediation/enhancement and time and attendance system enhancement. This role will work closely with the Benefits and Finance team to ensure all plans are compliant and administered consistently.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a payroll team that processes bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll cycles for multiple organizations while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and timeliness
  • Design processes with appropriate levels of control and oversight for outgoing payments and updates to payment information
  • Ensure the team performs and executed the integration of payroll activity of acquired subsidiaries as part of M&A support
  • Improve data quality of payroll-related information to integrate with our platform
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying current on existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Mentor, train, and coach a team of payroll employees
  • Acts as project manager for key payroll and time-keeping projects including but not limited to developing and monitoring the project plan, measuring the quality and accuracy of deliverables, leading project meetings and handling project related communications.
  • Provide support and leadership to the payroll processing team, including acting as a back-up for the US and Canadian payroll manager and leading special payroll events.
  • Serve as escalation point for integration issues between Payroll system and external vendors and our payroll and time-keeping systems.
  • Act as US Payroll and time-keeping data subject matter expert. Leads efforts to generate payroll and time keeping related reporting and build general reporting competencies within the team.
  • Responsible for planning and processing specialized transactions related to equity, annual bonuses and other special circumstances.
  • Lead the change control process for payroll including validating business need for request, capturing requirements and ensuring testing and control related evidence is reviewed and maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in: Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • More than 5+ years’ experience leading US and Canadian payroll or time-keeping projects or improvement efforts along with a payroll certification.
  • 3+ years of experience managing direct reports
  • Experience with payroll and time-keeping systems and technologies
  • Experience in payroll operations
  • Excellent influence and communication skills, able to facilitate communication session with senior HR and business leaders, understand culture difference
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with proven ability to organize and analyze data
  • Experience working in large, high volume payroll operations, including a managed services model
  • ADP, Ceridian, Workday, Paylocity experience
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence
  • Demonstrate solid judgment ensuring integrity, compliance, and confidentiality
