The Endoscopy Technician has responsibility to provide direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
AHA BLS Certification

Experience REQUIRED:
1 year of acute care experience in a patient care related position

Experience PREFERRED:
3 years of work experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting

Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Graduate or equivalent

Education/training PREFERRED:
Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician Program and appropriate certification based on program completed.

Independent action(s) required:
Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional: support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.

Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Additional position requirements:
Endoscopy Techs work day shift until the work of the day is complete.

Individual schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.

Schedules, including requirements of hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.

Physical: Lifting 50-100 lbs.
Other: Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.
