Education required: Undergraduate studying a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering

Other requirements: Must be enrolled at a SG university for the duration of your internship and doing a full-time credit-bearing internship

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Internship period: July to December 2025

What will you do?

Based at the Jurong site in Pioneer Sector 1, you will actively participate and be involved in driving the delivery of manufacturing operations improvement initiatives and enabling projects, to ensure that VS2 remains the choice building for New Product Introduction (NPI) for GSK globally, to supply new medicines to our patients.

This includes:

  • Understanding of various plant activities in a live manufacturing environment for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API)

  • Understanding Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) concepts and develop competency in Good Documentation Practices applicable for pharmaceutical manufacturing

  • Leading operational improvement projects (such as yield, cycle time and flow improvements) through the use of Lean Six Sigma tools (eg, value stream mapping, performance management visuals, DMAIC etc) and Digital Data & Analytics platforms, aligned to the site’s Smart Manufacturing digitalization journey

  • Supporting improvement initiatives aligned to the site’s sustainability goals to reduce waste and carbon foot-print

  • Supporting Project teams in Operational/Performance Qualification, HAZOP, Risk Assessments, to enable NPI for VS2

  • Leading the housekeeping of consumable items for Kilo-Scale Facility and High Potency Facility to allow future expansion of existing processes and enabling of NPI

  • Assisting the team of Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing shift team employees in day-to-day manufacturing activities via troubleshooting and problem-solving

What will you learn?

Through on-the-job learning, the intern will work alongside the engineers & technicians for a better understanding of the manufacturing processes and technologies. The intern will mimic the role of a Manufacturing Engineer to drive operational improvement projects to maximise throughput and increase process efficiency through the use of various operational excellence tools and data analytics.

Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with personnel from cross-functional teams, fostering a holistic approach to project execution and learning. By engaging with professionals from various disciplines, interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected nature of operations within the organisation and build a strong network of like-minded individuals within the field of API pharmaceutical manufacturing.

  • Individual who is curious, self-motivated and hungry to learn

  • Flexible; able to work both independently and as a team

  • Strong ability to analyse and present data

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Sociable, with strong communication and organisational skills

  • Knowledge of PowerBI, advanced analytics in Excel is a bonus
