The Director of Public Relations, North America is responsible for building demand, cultural relevance, and sustained visibility for Cirque du Soleil across all North American markets.
This role exists to move PR from a reactive media relations function to a strategic demand amplifier—one that creates anticipation, cultural heat, and urgency around shows, while reinforcing Cirque du Soleil’s super‑premium brand positioning.
Based in Las Vegas, this role acts as the regional PR and reputation lead, ensuring consistent, high‑impact communications across resident and touring shows, while remaining tightly aligned with global brand strategy and corporate reputation standards.
Core Mission
Drive anticipation, buzz, and relevance ahead of on‑sale and throughout a show’s lifecycle
Ensure Cirque du Soleil is culturally present, not just visible at launch moments
Align PR activity directly with demand generation and business objectives
Provide strong regional governance over PR agencies and local execution
Protect and elevate the Cirque du Soleil brand across all North American markets
Key Responsibilities
1. Regional PR Strategy & Demand Amplification
Develop and lead the North America PR strategy in alignment with global brand and marketing objectives
Translate brand positioning into compelling PR narratives that drive audience interest and intent
Design PR approaches that support:
Early demand build (12–18 months pre‑opening, for new shows)
Sustained visibility during runs for both resident and touring shows
Strategic peaks tied to ticketing and pricing moments
Ensure PR is an integrated lever within the broader “Selling the Show” (a combination of Marketing, Communications and Ticketing at Cirque du Soleil) demand system
2. Cultural Relevance & Visibility
Position Cirque du Soleil as a culturally relevant force in North America, beyond entertainment trade media
Build relationships with:
Tier‑1 cultural, lifestyle, and business media
Influential creators, tastemakers, and opinion leaders
Identify and activate cultural moments, collaborations, and partnerships that extend reach beyond paid media
Work closely with marketing and brand teams to ensure cultural consistency and sharpness
3. Show‑Level PR Orchestration (Resident & Touring)
Oversee PR strategy across all North American shows (resident and touring)
Ensure each show has:
A clear PR narrative aligned with its brand positioning
Distinctiveness within the Cirque portfolio
Guide and support show‑level PR managers and agencies, without centralizing execution unnecessarily
Reduce fragmentation and inconsistency across markets
4. Media Relations & Executive Visibility
Maintain senior‑level relationships with key media outlets across North America
Oversee:
Press announcements
Feature placements
Profiles
Reviews and editorial opportunities
Coordinate executive and creative talent visibility where relevant, in alignment with brand and corporate narratives
Act as a senior spokesperson when appropriate
5. Crisis & Reputation Management (Regional)
Ensure fast, coordinated, and on‑brand responses in high‑pressure situations
Act as the regional escalation point for issues related to shows in North American regions
6. Agency & Partner Management
Define and manage the North America PR agency ecosystem
Set clear expectations, scopes, and KPIs for agencies across markets
Ensure promoters and venues operate within Cirque PR guardrails where applicable
7. Measurement & Performance
Define and track PR success beyond impressions:
Impact on demand and awareness
Contribution to launch momentum
Quality and relevance of coverage
Partner with marketing and analytics teams to connect PR activity to business outcomes
Regularly report insights and recommendations to the CMO and leadership team
Profile & Experience
Required
10+ years of experience in public relations or communications, with senior regional responsibility
Proven experience driving PR as a growth and demand lever, not just reputation management
Strong media relationships across North America (entertainment, culture, lifestyle, business)
Experience working across multiple products or brands simultaneously
Ability to operate confidently in a matrixed, fast‑moving organization
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
Preferred
Entertainment, culture, luxury, or premium experience backgrounds
Experience working with touring productions, major events, or destination‑based brands
Strong understanding of how PR integrates with marketing, social, and paid media
