The Mapleton Foundry is looking to hire a Machinist (Tooling). As a machinist at Caterpillar Inc., you will set up, operate and adjust various gear machines and/or rotary head milling machines to perform precision machining operations on details of dies, jigs and fixtures, miscellaneous tooling, repair parts, prove design parts, etc. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in precision machining to create, modify, and maintain high-quality tooling that meets our rigorous production standards. You will use a variety of specialized equipment to design, fabricate, and repair precision tooling and fixtures, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and quality standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Fabricate, modify, and repair precision tools, molds, and machinery parts for manufacturing processes by operating various machine tools and using blueprints and measuring instruments to meet precise specifications.
• Sets up, operates and adjusts various gear machines and/or rotary head milling machines to perform precision machining operations on details of dies, jigs and fixtures, miscellaneous tooling, repair parts, prove design parts, etc. Use a variety of special equipment and attachments as required.
•  Sets up and operates a special universal grinding machine to perform precise grinding operations on male and female taper spline and serration gauges.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5 or more years of manual machining experience
• Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds

Top candidates will also have:

• Previous machine shop or foundry experience
• Computer knowledge
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Problem solving and decision-making
• Math skills

Summary Pay Range - $30.67- $32.77, plus $1.00 night-shift premium.
