Director, Site Reliability Engineering, Brampton, ON

As a key member of the SRE team, the Director of SRE will ensure that our Technology Platforms and Compute Infrastructure are built with industry standard practices and are able to scale with the exponential growth of our customer base. This role will lead and grow, a passionate engineering team consisting of multi-disciplined site reliability engineers and will be a champion of continuous improvement, driving velocity and innovation at scale. This role reports to the Senior Director, Site Reliability Engineering and will work closely with various engineering teams influencing development of reliable products, standardization of reusable solutions, and adoption of resiliency and reliability principles.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive deep technical design discussions in close collaboration with your stakeholder teams ensuring that we're building the right systems while maintaining quality

  • Demonstrate your inclusive leadership skills by developing, recruiting and retaining top engineering talent through mentorship, collaboration and empathy

  • Continuously improve our software engineering practices with a focus on infrastructure-as-code, toil reduction, and automation while simultaneously identifying cost-saving opportunities

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management and balance the business needs versus technical constraints

  • Work closely with engineering teams to influence and guide the design and architecture of applications for improved reliability and performance

What You Bring:

  • Seasoned experience in leading impactful teams in a fast paced, large volume and complex customer facing environment

  • Working experience in the Engineering and Computer Science space with a demonstrable understanding of Cloud Platforms (GCP and/or Azure and/or Oracle Cloud), Cloud-Native Applications, Databases, Backup and Storage Solutions and Cloud Cost Management especially as they relate to eCommerce/Retail/Enterprise.

  • Strong background in managing and scaling large-scale compute infrastructure in multi-cloud and on-premise environments. Experience with cloud migration and virtualization technologies is a bonus.

  • Understanding of security best practices, compliance requirements, and vulnerability management in cloud and on-premise environments.

  • Hands on technologist who can investigate and hold their own with the senior engineers building scalable application platforms along with experience in developing applications, infrastructure or platform as code in GCP and/or Azure and/or Oracle Cloud.
