Primary Position Objective:
Under limited supervision, manages all Staff Counsel audit activities relating to the review of office files to ensure proper case handling and the review of office practices to ensure they are in accordance with established procedures, standards, and best practices.
Essential Functions:
· Manages the Staff Counsel audit team and the audit process, to measure and ensure proper case handling, reporting, and compliance with Staff Counsel policies and procedures. Prepares reports based on the reviews completed and provides feedback to audit team members about their findings and analysis.
· Is an objective source of independent advice to management and effectively communicates findings and recommendations including identifying loopholes, manipulation of reporting, gaps in policy, confirming that departmental procedures are being followed as well as ways to improve the audit process.
· Works with senior management to develop audit guidelines and communicates same departmentwide.
· Interviews and/or Approves job applicants for employment. Drafts and administers associate performance appraisals. Initiates or approves salary adjustments, performance ratings, and other personnel changes. Counsels associates and implements corrective action, as appropriate.

· Must be able to travel to staff counsel offices across the country, if needed.
· Must be able to use a keyboard and a mouse.
· Must be able to access and utilize multiple pieces of office equipment that may require simultaneous use.
· Must be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and in written correspondence/email.
· Must be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization.
· Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting and multi-tasking skills.
· Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
· Must demonstrate successful performance in handling trial responsibility for cases of significant severity and complexity.
Must have the following education and experience:
· Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions and meet and maintain licensing requirements including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicable.
· Must have a minimum of seven years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury.

Annual Salary
$148,000.00 - $230,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
