The Director of Strategic Partnerships & Communications supports the Division of External Operations in marketing and community engagement/support, expanding the division’s visibility internally and externally across its locations in Fort Worth, Waco, Bryan, and Online. This position, based at Tarleton State Fort Worth, oversees division-wide communication channels including but not limited to email campaigns, social media, and website content. Specific to strategic partnerships, the director organizes industry and community related events, division sponsorship opportunities, and positively represents the university in partnership-centric endeavors.
This is an in-office position located in Fort Worth, Texas with work hours of Monday to Friday; from 9AM to 6PM or as work requirements indicate. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
60% Communications, Promotion and Visibility:
Manages internal and external division communications in partnership with the Vice President and Assistant Vice President of External Operations and its leadership team to include all division channels, collateral and content across related platforms. Writes, reviews and edits written materials and prepares presentations. Works individually or with a team in recommending action, scheduling and planning projects, estimating cost, if applicable, and managing goals to completion. Works across division functional teams and business groups to effectively prioritize work. Selects, designs and orders audience appropriate promotional items for events and division-wide outreach. Supervises student interns for social media and digital marketing activities, working collaboratively with colleagues across the university to support related efforts.
Furthermore, this position researches, sources, develops and publishes content and visual elements for use on websites, in emails, presentations, videos, digital formats, print materials, internal social media platforms and events. Socializes and implements communications processes including advising and training internal teams on how to create better systems when needed.
Working with other areas such as University Marketing & Communications and the Division of Enrollment Management, coordinates with creative groups in development of effective marketing and communication materials including production and design direction, branding strategies, quality control, and brand and style guides. Serves as a member of the MarCom Partner team with other university representatives.
35% Event Planning & Community Partnerships:
Specific to strategic partnerships, the director organizes industry and community related events on behalf of the Division of External Operations, division sponsorship opportunities, and positively represents the university in partnership-centric endeavors.
Initiates, maintains, builds and strengthens relationships with key contacts within Chambers of Commerce, community non-profits, and the private sector. Leverages outreach efforts designed to create measurable value for all locations, protecting and enhancing our brand and engagement. Project manages external conferences, events and meetings to advocate for Tarleton State, ensuring we bring value-add opportunities to the community.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education & experience.
Experience – Ten years of related experience in communications including at least three years of related supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience
The target base annual salary is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
