Location & Schedule
In this position you can expect to start on-site at the Denver Wastewater Management Building (2000 W. 3rd Ave., Denver 80223), Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.

About Wastewater Management
Wastewater Management oversees all aspects of wastewater functions, including the construction, operation, and maintenance of the City’s sanitary and storm systems, as well as administrative functions such as implementing policies, establishing cost controls and setting fees to maintain a revenue base sufficient to support operational requirements and capital improvements program, and responding to customer inquiries regarding sewage and storm drainage service charges.
The Wastewater Management team is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as an Accounting Supervisor for the Accounting Services unit.
As the Accounting Supervisor, you will:
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and assign work and established goals and priorities for subordinate employees.
Review work upon completion for adherence to guidelines and standards.
Resolve problems encountered by employees during the course of the assignment.
Review accounting transactions involving revenue, accounts receivable, cashiering, purchasing, receiving, accounts payable, capital assets, capital projects, debt, grants, and budgeting, including other revenue sources, such as: Sidewalk, Solid Waste, permits, and citations.
Work with City Agencies/Departments on accounting-related topics.
Analyze data and prepare various financial reports, including annual audited financial statements.
Oversee external and internal audits.
Implement and interpret policies and procedures developed by higher level managers.
Assist in developing, recommending and coordinating the implementation of new processes and procedures for the assigned function.
Ideal Candidate Summary
Our ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
Experience with Zuora, CIS, Passport, Accela and/or other 3rd party revenue/payment software
Government accounting experience
Workday Financials experience
Strong Microsoft Excel and/or PowerBI skills. Experience working with and analyzing large data sets
Experience leading and motivating a diverse team
Experience with process documentation and improvement
Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of full performance level professional accounting experience reconciling accounting discrepancies, analyzing expenditures, and preparing financial reports.
Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted.
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements.
