Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a motivated Lead Software Engineer with technical design and architecture experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for the design and architecture of application systems. The Lead Software Engineer develops the application's architecture and blueprints on which functional and non-functional requirements can be met. Participates in the definition of non-functional requirements and ensures that the application architecture supports these requirements. Provides strategic input for long-term application direction. Monitors and maintains compliance with Enterprise Architecture, Technology Standards, and Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning. Participates in evaluation of vendor products to determine conformance with bank technical standards and appropriate fit with business needs. Develops and maintains department's knowledge base. Mediates between the expert and knowledge base. Uses models, hypotheses, and cognitive analysis techniques to elicit real problem-solving knowledge from the experts.  Senior level positions lead the mapping of the application's architecture to the chosen technology platform; may lead, provide direction, and coordinate activities of application architects

Reviews developer technical designs.  Translates user requirements to technical requirements.

Designs application's technical infrastructure, such as application components, platforms, interfaces, development tools, and testing approaches.  Possesses broad knowledge of platforms and applications across all technologies.  Converts specifications into design approach instructions to solve business problems through automation support.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies
  • 8+ years of experience with developing and implementing applications

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $123,165.00 - $144,900.00 - $159,390.00
