Position Responsibilities

  • Participate in and supervising multiple engagements within the Technical Accounting Consulting practice to provide technical accounting and financial or business advisory guidance to U.S. based clients

  • Draft technical accounting memos on complex ASC 842 accounting matters including but not limited to, business combination impact, build to suit, sale-lease back, and impairment considerations.

  • Stay informed about emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes related to lease accounting under US GAAP.

  • Conduct technical research as needed to address accounting issues and ensure compliance.

  • Prepare financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures related to leasing, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of lease accounting concepts, to be able to read a lease and abstract key inputs to be loaded into lease accounting technology.

  • Become a power user on the firm’s lease administration technology platforms

  • Build and eventually supervise Seniors/Associates on the engagement team based in El Salvador.

  • Understand RSM’s service lines and work as a team in providing an integrated service delivery.

  • Collaborate directly with firm specialists/subject matter experts on complex accounting matters.

  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the development and execution of the consulting work plan and client deliverables.

  • Open to work on other solution sets considering business requirements.

Qualification and Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Understanding of technical accounting services with knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and FASB regulations and minimum of 4 years of accounting industry experience (Audit, Internal Audit, Corporate Accounting)

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent team and project management skills

  • Prior experience with using accounting Software (SAP, Oracle, Great Plains, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of team lead or in-charge experience overseeing staff on multiple engagements

  • Experience with ASC 842, leases preferred and familiarity with contract review and general data entry

  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with general ledger account reconciliations and preparation of technical accounting memos

  • Ideal candidate would have experience of being a liaison between US and El Salvador team to understand the importance of working as one team.
