Join Waythrough, one of the UK’s leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.

About the role
We are looking to recruit a Housing Recovery Coordinator to work across Durham County. The most important things you’ll bring to this role are your positive attitude, enthusiasm, integrity and ability to use initiative as well as your belief in our ambition: to eliminate the problems of housing associated with alcohol and drug use.

This is your chance to join an established team aiming to address the housing needs of those in treatment and improve engagement in treatment of those working with Housing Solutions or living in temporary accommodation. You will contribute to this position by providing support and advice to those involved in substance misuse where this creates a barrier to housing.

You’ll need to be able to work with service users holistically, helping them to access other services that can help with the practical problems they may be facing as a result of their substance misuse (e.g. housing, financial, healthcare etc).

What You’ll Do

  • To provide outreach support and advice to adults in the community to support them to secure appropriate accommodation and live independently.
  • Manage a caseload as allocated by the Service Manager and complete high quality and comprehensive needs assessments and risk assessments for each individual.
  • Develop comprehensive support / risk plans to identify how the individuals needs will be met in order to help each service user live independently within the community and achieve sustained outcomes.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • Knowledge of welfare benefits system and relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of housing options available and relevant legislation.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or above or equivalent) or willing to work towards this in post.
  • Driving licence and access to own car

About Waythrough

Waythrough was formed in 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Together, we’ve created one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.

We’re in the process of integrating systems and processes across our newly merged organisation. That means some roles may still be branded ‘Humankind’ or appear on our partners’ job sites (such as Richmond Fellowship or Aquarius). This is a temporary step while we complete our transition.
