Job Description:
The EVP, Client Solutions & Planning is responsible, within the Communications Planning Team, for designing and leading the strategic communications direction for key clients and initiatives.
The EVP, Client Solutions & Planning provides their brands, other agencies and the rest of the agency team with a critical perspective on the future that will be a reality when communications will hit the market. This requires insightfulness, confidence, eloquence and persuasiveness and the ability to support insights with evidence. The purpose of this role is to develop game-changing media strategies that create a competitive advantage for current and prospective clients - guiding business objectives, insight generation, cultural narrative, media briefs, creative media solutions, award-worthy ideas, strategic POVs and go-to market activations. They are also in charge of delivering thought leadership and contributing to agency growth initiatives.
They will be a creative problem solver, combining a rigorous, data-driven analytical mindset with an ability to be an innovative creative thinker.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Strategy & Communications Planning:
- Develop and expertly articulate a compelling strategic narrative that reframes client challenges into strategic media opportunities that create a competitive advantage
- At the forefront of identifying transformational business, marketing, cultural and consumer insights that unlock business advantage for key clients
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the media landscape to innovate how media can reach people in the most relevant and meaningful ways
- Identify the strategic role media can play in overcoming barriers along the customer journey; ensure teams are applying strategic media principles through planning and activation
- Identify how brands should innovate and behave in different comms and cultural spaces to create more value for consumers
- Lead brainstorms and ideation sessions that challenge teams to develop innovative media & comms solutions
- Leverage influence and expertise to increase client regard for Strategy & Communications Planning solutions
- Contribute to agency thought leadership; provide proactive thought leadership outreach to clients
- Lead/contribute to the strategic component of new business pitches
- Work collaboratively with senior management, agency partners and peers to successfully contribute to the success of the agency
Client & Internal Relationships:
- Partner with Planning leads on plan developments and identification of any ongoing strategic outages
- Build and maintain strong client and external agency relationships
- Must demonstrate a posture of ‘extreme collaboration’ to ensure insights are adopted, internalized and executed upon across multiple agencies and by adding genuine value when participating in research initiated by others
- Demonstrate pro-active value to clients by identifying strategic issues before they become a problem and strategic opportunities that will give them a competitive edge in the marketplace
- Stay on top of business and client concerns to head off issues early
- Accurately represent the client’s point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client, ultimately focused on doing the best work for the client’s business
- Ensure collaboration among agency departments; fosters great teamwork
- Provide appropriate management updates and solicit feedback and direction when appropriate
Communication Skills:
- Direct the development of client presentations, new business pitches, and thought leadership in a way that is clear, compelling and persuasive
- Demonstrate strong storytelling skills that challenge how a client thinks about their business
- Adapt communication style to relevant audience, which can swing from creatives through to senior business executives
- Move audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information
- Encourage open, ongoing internal communication
- Brief teams in ideation and steer brainstorms and/or innovation workshops
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 12+ years experience in Communications Planning or Strategic Media Planning
- Strong analytic skills – ability to translate data into information and insights; disciplined and structured problem solving skills
- Strategic thinking ability with balanced analytical and creative approach to holistic and tactical media planning
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic perspective and points of view when needed, based on minimal briefing (i.e. New Business Chemistry Checks)
- Proven ability to quickly win client trust, at senior level, by demonstrating a competent grasp of client’s business and brand category
- Understanding of multiple communications channels and their role in brand marketing
- Commitment to delivering creative media solutions, and the ability to align team members, agency partners, and clients, behind a shared vision
- Dynamic presence in presentations and other forms of client or internal communications
- Raises group proficiency – leadership, quality, efficiency
- Excellent team feedback (direct reports and collaborative team partners)
- Serve as an ambassador and demonstrate grace in challenging internal/external scenarios
The hourly pay range for this position is $128.00 - $130.00. The hourly pay rate for the successful candidate is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law. Temporary employees are eligible for paid holidays in accordance with dentsu policy, as well as safe and sick time. This position is not eligible for any other benefits or other compensation.
