The Barbados Operation of Manulife, a publicly traded company incorporated in Canada is inviting applications from highly motivated and suitably qualified persons for the position of Accounting Senior Analyst in our organization. The successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for the reporting and analysis of the financial results of Manufacturers Life Reinsurance Limited a large life reinsurance company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly wire transfers for overseas payments
  • Prepare monthly expense variance analysis and investigate material variances and trends.
  • Prepare quarterly investment reports of the assets under management
  • Prepare quarterly Income Statements and Balance Sheets by Segment
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations of general ledger accounts
  • Prepare quarterly corporation tax schedules
  • Prepare quarterly returns due to local regulator
  • Prepare annual budget for general expenses
  • Prepare trial balance and any additional working papers for the annual audit
  • Assist in the clarification of queries from Head Office regarding account balances
  • Assist on special projects and adhoc queries

What we are looking for

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in the financial industry
  • Enrolled in an accounting designation program at final level
  • Understanding of reinsurance principles and practices would be an asset
  • Well-developed planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced PC skills, especially in Excel, experience in working with complex spreadsheets
  • Acumen for accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and comfortable with working independently, work well under pressure
  • Relationship skills to support working effectively and collaboratively across multiple levels and organizations
