A Day in the Life

Are you interested in joining the Medtronic family as a key liaison with our customers? We seek a dedicated Field Service Engineer to play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our essential medical equipment, ensuring patient well-being. This position demands expertise in Medtronic's proprietary technology and adherence to our high standards of quality and service.

We offer a full-time opportunity for a customer-oriented, independent professional with strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills. Your responsibilities will include performing preventive maintenance, repair, installation and training of hospital staff on first level medical devices. Based in Porto, you will serve major hospitals in Portugal and Northern Spain (Galicia) driving revenue growth through service plans and spare parts sales. This is an exciting challenge for those with a strong technical background and flexibility to travel within the designated territory.


Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Provides in-house repair service in a repairing/service center or on-site technical service and support without sales & service quota
  • Provides technical advice to customers, sales personnel, and healthcare professionals responding to product related questions, issues and problems
  • Provides sales personnel with technical data necessary for the demonstration of products
  • Acts as a liaison between sales personnel and customers on technical issues
  • May make technical presentations at sales meetings and customer locations

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (maintenance of electronic and electromechanical equipment in a field service role).
  • Proficient in Portuguese, a good level of English and Spanish at a comprehension and communication level. Understand technical service manuals and be able to lead and participate in training courses in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
  • Driving license.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Portugal and sporadically internationally.
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance tracking software to operate, update and generate reports of preventive maintenance systems. Skilled in updating work and service plans.
  • Proactive, decisive and autonomous in your day-to-day work. Able to efficiently resolve interventions assigned to him/her.

Familiarity with following processes and procedures in a regulated industry. Good communication skills, strong commitment to customers and appointments, accuracy and precision, solution oriented, punctuality and knowledge of robotics and x-ray applied to biomedicine is a plus.
