Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our Humanoid is designed for corporate tasks targeting labor shortages and jobs that are undesirable or unsafe. We are based in Sunnyvale, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. 

We are looking for Senior Legal Counsel. In summary, the role will involve providing comprehensive legal support across a variety of business functions, managing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance to protect the company’s interests. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will collaborate with departments to provide strategic and practical legal advice, draft and review key agreements, and support corporate governance and policy development efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advisory: Provide clear, concise legal advice on issues impacting the company’s business, including regulatory compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and corporate governance.
  • Contract Review & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and third parties, balancing legal risks with business needs.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential legal risks, providing recommendations to mitigate them, and support the implementation of risk management strategies.
  • Corporate Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to corporate governance requirements and oversee compliance with applicable laws and regulations, keeping management informed of relevant changes.
  • Dispute Resolution & Litigation: Manage and advise on disputes, litigation, and regulatory inquiries, coordinating with external counsel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; active Bar membership in California
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably including a mix of in-house experience and law firm / corporate roles
  • Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and business practices. Familiarity with contract law, employment law, intellectual property, and compliance is a plus
