The Core Infrastructure Team is hiring a Senior Database Reliability Engineer with focus on automation to enhance the efficiency and scalability of our database management at BILL. As we grow, automating tasks like provisioning, monitoring, backups, and performance tuning is key to ensuring reliability and streamlining operations. This role combines expertise in database technologies, terraform, CI/CD pipelines, programming, and automation to improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our database systems.

You will focus on automation by developing tools and frameworks to optimize database processes within our AWS infrastructure, supporting our commitment to Infrastructure as Code. As part of the Database Engineering team, you will design and implement automated solutions to further enhance our database operations.

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in database engineering or a similar role, with a strong emphasis on automation.
  • Extensive experience in using Python, Go, or other programming languages to develop tools and automation, demonstrating strong programming skills and the ability to create robust solutions.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS database services (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, particularly with Terraform.
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automated database solutions in AWS environments, with a focus on patching and deployment.
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines for database deployments using tools like GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
