Overview
Serves as a senior technical engineer and one of the technical owners for Microsoft 365 services, providing expertise in collaboration, productivity, automation, and AI-enabled workplace technologies. Responsible for the engineering, governance, operational excellence, security, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365 platforms that support enterprise-wide business operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Work closely with Technology management, Product Owners, Architects, Engineers, and support teams to design, implement, and manage Microsoft 365 solutions that meet current and future business needs. Serve as one of the technical owners for Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform, and Microsoft Graph integrations. Lead the design, engineering, configuration, automation, and lifecycle management of Microsoft 365 services, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable. Develop and maintain engineering standards, governance processes, operational procedures, and platform roadmaps supporting Microsoft 365 services. Evaluate new Microsoft technologies and features, providing recommendations that balance business value, user experience, security, compliance, operational readiness, and support requirements. Design and implement automation solutions utilizing PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, APIs, Power Automate, and related technologies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery. Regularly and independently engage with business partners and technology stakeholders to understand business objectives, define requirements, and identify opportunities to improve workforce productivity through Microsoft 365 capabilities. Provide technical leadership for Microsoft 365 modernization, migration, adoption, governance, and AI enablement initiatives. Support the engineering, governance, adoption, and operational management of Microsoft 365 Copilot and related AI-enabled solutions. Coordinate with Microsoft and third-party vendors as needed to resolve complex issues, support strategic initiatives, and evaluate emerging technologies. Mentor and coach engineers, analysts, and administrators. Review technical documentation, design proposals, implementation plans, and operational changes. Participate in major incident response, root cause analysis, problem management, and continuous improvement activities related to Microsoft 365 services. Follow and promote industry best practices, Microsoft recommendations, engineering standards, security controls, and operational procedures. Maintain deep technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, platform architecture, licensing, governance, administration, and emerging roadmap capabilities. Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues requiring escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit findings and remediation activities. Complete other related duties as assigned.
