About the Role
As an SME in Operations, you will serve as a critical knowledge resource for post-trade operations spanning settlements, mutual funds, asset servicing, cash sweeps, and reconciliations across U.S. and Canadian financial markets.
You will lead efforts to standardize and document operational processes, identify and implement efficiency and risk mitigation initiatives, and support training and development across the team. Your deep understanding of North American market infrastructure and regulatory requirements will ensure operational excellence and ongoing compliance.
What You’ll Do
Process Documentation & Standardization
Develop, maintain, and enhance comprehensive operational procedure manuals and process maps for multi-asset workflows including trade settlement (DTC, CDS, Fedwire), mutual funds (FundSERV), asset servicing (corporate actions, income), and cash management.
Collaborate with operations teams and management to identify gaps, overlaps, or inefficiencies in current processes and recommend standardized solutions.
Ensure process documentation reflects current regulatory requirements (IIROC, SEC, CSA, FINRA) and internal control standards.
Operational Improvement & Automation
Analyze operational data and KPIs to identify bottlenecks, error trends, and risk points across settlement, asset servicing, and cash sweep processes.
Partner with Technology, Risk, and Process Excellence teams to design and implement automation, workflow enhancements, and control improvements.
Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives including root cause analysis, issue resolution, and post-mortem reviews of operational incidents.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
Act as the operational knowledge hub for the team by providing guidance and clarifications on complex processes, trade exceptions, and regulatory changes.
Develop training materials, run workshops, and support onboarding and cross-training programs.
Provide expertise during internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and system user acceptance testing (UAT).
Stakeholder Collaboration
Liaise with internal stakeholders (Risk, Compliance, Client Services, Technology) and external partners (custodians, brokers, fund managers) to align operational procedures and resolve complex issues.
Represent operations in cross-functional forums focused on regulatory changes, product launches, or system implementations.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
5+ years experience in capital markets or investment operations with a solid understanding of North American financial market post-trade processing (settlements, mutual funds, asset servicing).
Demonstrated expertise in trade settlement infrastructure (DTC, CDS, Fedwire), FundSERV, SWIFT, and associated workflows.
Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to U.S. and Canadian markets (IIROC, SEC, CSA, FINRA).
Proven experience creating and maintaining process documentation and procedural controls.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma or Agile.
Familiarity with operational risk management and internal controls (RCSA, SOC audits).
Exposure to system implementation, UAT, or workflow automation projects.
Ability to translate complex operational concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation and training.
What We Offer
A pivotal role bridging frontline operations and strategic process improvement initiatives.
Opportunities to lead key projects that enhance operational efficiency and reduce risk across U.S. and Canadian markets.
Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams across technology, risk, compliance, and client service.
Flexible work arrangements and career development opportunities within a fast-evolving financial services environment.
