We’re looking for a Senior Compliance Manager to join us. You’ll help us with high-quality regulatory oversight and constructive compliance support across regulated financial advice, investments, platform operations and retail investment distribution, you’ll also contribute to how we grow and support more people.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative setting and has a genuine desire to help people improve their finances. You’ll learn fast, work across the business and see the impact of your work every day.

About Octopus Money

🐙 We’re on a mission to become the most recommended financial services business in the UK 🐙

Money shapes every part of life. Yet most people never get the support they need:

  • Half of Brits reach retirement age without enough to live the life they want
  • Financial stress is a leading cause of poor mental health
  • Only 8% of people have access to 1-to-1 financial advice

There’s no shortage of information. What people actually need is clarity, guidance and a plan that makes sense for them.

That’s where we come in.

Octopus Money brings together financial planning, investment expertise and smart technology so people can understand their options and take action with confidence. We help people build a clear plan for their savings, investments and pensions and make investing simple with managed portfolios built by experts. We also support employers who want their teams to feel more secure and in control.

Some people need regulated advice. Others need coaching. Many need both at different points in life. Our service adapts to what each person needs.

We believe everyone deserves money support that works for real life.

The role

As Senior Compliance Manager, your day will involve:

  • Regulatory Strategy & Change
Interpreting FCA rules and guidance, translating into meaningful business processes and leading horizon scanning for emerging regulatory trends.
  • Oversight & Monitoring
Own and continually improve the compliance monitoring framework, using AI to monitor financial promotions, platform operations, complaints, vulnerability and advice suitability.
  • Investment Governance
Providing technical guidance on MiFID activities (Best Execution, product governance and fees) and supporting the ICARA process.
  • Advice & Suitability
Monitoring the advice guidance boundary, advice quality, Training & Competence (T&C) approach and client file reviews. You will work closely with 1st line colleagues forming trusted relationships.
  • Regulatory Liaison
Liaising with the FCA, managing inquiries, regulatory returns and reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Culture & Leadership
Partnering with internal audit to foster a firm-wide culture of accountability and compliance.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the company, helping us ensure regulatory compliance and drive a culture of integrity. You will be part of a fast-paced, tech-led and innovative environment.

In this role, success will be measured by:

  • Scalable Frameworks: Designing and embedding pragmatic compliance processes that support our growth.
  • Values-Led Ownership: Acting as a guardian of our customer-first culture, ensuring regulatory requirements are aligned with our mission to help more people.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Working as a business enabler with Product, Ops, and Advice teams to solve complex problems collaboratively.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintaining a 100% success rate on regulatory deadlines and providing high-quality, bi-monthly risk and compliance reporting.

We value people who:

Make every conversation matter
You care about how you make people feel. You communicate clearly, listen well and build trust with customers and colleagues. You want every interaction to move things forward.

Move with urgency and focus
You like getting stuck in. You care about making progress, not always perfection. You stay focused on what matters, learn quickly and find smart ways to keep things moving.

Own it
You take responsibility for your work and the outcomes it creates. You’re comfortable solving problems, making decisions and tackling challenges head on. You hold yourself to a high standard and want to make a real impact.

What we look for

  • Typically 5+ years within FCA-regulated firms, specifically in senior Second Line of Defence roles.
  • Practical experience in wealth management, financial advice or investment platform businesses.
  • In-depth understanding of MiFID conduct requirements, Consumer Duty, and SMCR.

Operational Skills

  • Proven track record in conducting compliance monitoring reviews and reviewing advice files.
  • Strong command of UK retail investment advice regulation.
  • Ability to influence and provide constructive challenge to stakeholders at all levels.
  • An analytical approach to identifying and mitigating regulatory risk.

Education & Certifications

  • Highly Desirable: CII Level 4 (or equivalent Pension and Investment Advice qualification).
  • Desirable: Relevant professional qualifications such as ICA, CISI, or legal credentials.

The interview process

Our interview process typically includes:

  • An intro call with our talent team
  • A competency-based interview with the hiring manager
  • An interview with our Group Chief Risk Officer
  • A conversation focused on how you work and what you value

We’ll keep it simple and respectful of your time, and you’ll meet the people you’ll actually work with. Our average process takes around four weeks but we’ll always work around your availability.

What’s in it for you

A base salary: £65,000 to £75,000 DOE + benefits

We want people to grow here, to feel supported and to feel proud of the impact they make.

You’ll get:

  • Hybrid working with 2 days at home each week (Monday and Friday)
  • 18 days a year working from anywhere (for non regulated roles)
  • Share incentive plan - the shares you buy in Octopus Group are matched at 1.5 times. You read that right, for every share you buy, Octopus gives you 1.5 extra
  • Team bonus for non-commission based roles
  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Birthday day off
  • A supportive team who care about what they do
  • The chance to help people improve their lives

Please note, as a regulated business we are required to run background checks for all employees which covers adverse financial and unspent convictions. These will only take place upon a successful job offer.
