Byford Quarry is on the lookout for a high-performing Quarry Operator to join our dedicated team.

Starting as the Production Leading Hand, this role is perfect for someone with the skills, drive, and leadership mindset ready to take the next step in their career. We’re committed to supporting your growth with the tools and guidance needed for a stable, long-term career based in Perth.

Primarily operating various pieces of mobile extraction plant such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks. This position will also provide opportunities to step into more Supervisory responsibilities, with a long-term focus on career development and site succession planning.  

What you’ll be doing: 

• Operate a variety of mobile plant including excavator, loader, grader, dump trucks
• Assist in training and mentoring quarry team members 
• Leaving your mark on the site by assisting in quarry development and mine decision making
• Assisting with drill preparations
• Monitor equipment conditions and assist in coordinating maintenance activities 
• Ensure a safe working environment by working directly with site Supervision to ensure best practice extractive technics are used  
• Assist with training and mentoring less experienced operators
• Focus on leading by example and developing the foundations of a Supervisory or Managerial career.

 

About you: 

 

• Significant experience in quarrying, mining, or similar operation
• Competency in operating heavy machinery used in extraction operations – Excavator, Dozer, Grader, Loader    
• Strong commitment to best practice mining techniques  
• A proactive and team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement 
• Eager to learn and take on new challenges in a supportive environment.
