The CIO Role

The Chief Investments Officer (CIO) will report to the Head of Wealth Management and is a senior member of the Wealth Management leadership team. The CIO will develop and implement Investment strategies that align with Wealth Management’s goals and growth objectives, making independent decisions that will impact asset allocation, product and solution choices, strategic return estimates, Global Investment Committee activities and macroeconomic assessments. Additionally, the CIO will ensure the consistent delivery of all of Citi’s CIO assets to all Clients, Bankers, Investment Counsellors, and other Investment professionals while offering his or her perspective on global markets, economics, family office management and investor trends.

The CIO will work with Investment Solutions to identify the strategies that best represent the house views mindful of market risks and opportunities for all Citi Wealth clients. The CIO team is comprised of approximately 100 employees, located across the world. The team includes multi-asset class strategists who travel to provide and explain market views to internal stakeholders and external clients, generating actionable investment content, risk management ideas, and helping create new product solutions.

The teams within the CIO are:

• The Chief Investment Strategist and Economist Office (CIS): a team of seasoned thought leaders which brings key insights into economics, asset classes and investment strategy. CIS manages Wealth’s overall strategic asset allocation.

• Digital Asset Thought Leadership

• Sustainable Investing Thought Leadership

• The Investments Lab which delivers comprehensive analytical portfolio strategies

• Content Management

• Partnerships (including Citi Research connectivity).

Responsibilities

The CIO will:

• Establish, enhance, and broaden the advice we provide to Private Bank, Wealth at Work and Citigold/Citigold Private clients globally and ensure that our advice is translated effectively into client portfolio strategies.

• Lead the investment processes that turn “ideas into actions” and provide relevant, actionable, and timely advice to clients.

• Power portfolio asset allocation via the Global Investment Committee, a management team of senior thought leaders who provide the strategic and tactical asset allocations for portfolio implementation.

• Oversee client analytics and portfolio implementation via the Investment Lab.

• Ensure broad internal and external communications of CIO content through 1:1 client meeting, events, and media.

• Deliver CIO content globally, including direct oversight of Wealth Outlook and Mid-Year Outlook, At-aGlance, Implementation guides, Podcasts, and CIO Weekly Webcasts.

• Attend and actively participate new business development activities to drive growth of Investments.

• Serve as the sole leader of investment communications in the production of print, video, website, webinars, podcasts to be distributed to internal stakeholders and Citi Wealth clients.

• Demonstrable track record of successfully implementing multi-asset portfolio management and investment strategy structuring experience within a Wealth Management business.

• Responsible for CIO annual budget, business planning, headcount and expenses in support of our Wealth business plans; and

• Ensure a strong Risk, Compliance and Governance Framework is embedded across the business, as well as a strong and effective Internal Audit framework is in place.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience as a CIO, including relevant direct managerial experience.

• Well known industry thinker with the ability to provide an impartial, consultative and solutions-oriented investment approach.

• Proven track record of execution excellence.

• Significant knowledge of global macroeconomics and financial market structures.

• In-depth knowledge of global portfolio construction utilizing multiple asset classes.

• Experience in publishing investment research and strategy guidance for broad audiences.

• Demonstrable leadership capabilities coupled with a proven ability to motivate and encourage, attract and retain high performing teams; and

• Highly developed verbal and interpersonal skills, including extensive media experience.

Education:

• Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
