The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) provides a vibrant and nurturing environment for staff and students to carry out inter-disciplinary research in key areas such as Computational Materials Science, Characterisation Materials Science, Defence Composite Materials, Functional Composite Materials, Energy, Nanomaterials, Low Dimensional Materials, Biomaterials Materials, Biological Materials, Bioinspired Materials and Sustainable Materials.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to contribute to the cutting-edge research on the AI-driven design and discovery of novel multifunctional composites (MFCs) with enhanced functional properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing a comprehensive database of MFCs for analysis and reference.

  • Collaborating with AI scientists to provide domain insights that aid in the development of AI models.

  • Performing experimental verifications of materials recommended by AI models.

  • Publishing research articles in high-impact journals to disseminate study findings.

  • Providing regular updates and reports.

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the principal investigator

Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from a well-established university/institute.

  • Outstanding research/publication track record.

  • Strong background in the development of MFCs, including design, fabrication and characterization.

  • Experience or interest in conducting interdisciplinary research, particularly in the intersection of machine learning and materials informatics.

  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team as well as independently.

  • Excellent communication skills.
