The Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI), established in 2013 through a strategic partnership between NTU and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), is a premier institution dedicated to advancing the science and technology of air traffic management. ATMRI aims to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the worldwide air transport system. We invite a suitable candidate to join the strong research team in ATMRI (MAE, NTU) as a Principal Research Scientist to provide strategic leadership and support for all aspects of R&D activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide R&D projects, with a particular focus on human factors, human-AI ATC systems, and advanced machine learning algorithms.

  • Take a leading role in designing theoretical foundations of methods as well as experiments validating the developed methods.

  • Plan and execute detailed R&D activities to meet project objectives and deadlines.

  • Supervise researchers/students.

  • Initiate and evaluate relevant literature reviews and assessments of the state-of-the-art technologies.

  • Generate novel scientific or technological concepts for application of breakthrough nature.

  • Conduct innovative and high-quality research.

Job Responsibilities:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Science or other relevant fields from the top renown universities.

  • At least 15 years of R&D experience in academia or industry.

  • Solid technical foundation in human factors, AI, and human-machine interaction with a comprehensive understanding of global current and emerging trends.

  • Sound research records and publications in human factors for ATCM systems, AI methods and algorithms.

  • High Google Scholar h-index citation count (above 25).

  • PI/Co-PI experience in projects under competitive research grants.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, and excellent problem-solving skills.

The successful applicant will typically be placed on a 1-year contract. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
