Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to join our team as an Electric Motor and Driver Conceptual Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing electric motors and drivers for various applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on motor design, and a proven track record of successful conceptualization and development of electric motor and driver systems.Job Description
Conceptualize and design electric motors and drivers for specific applications, considering factors such as performance requirements, efficiency, size, and cost.
Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to electric motor and driver design.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, electronics engineers, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless integration of motor and driver systems into overall product designs.
Develop detailed design specifications, including electrical, mechanical, and thermal requirements, for electric motor and driver systems.
Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and evaluate motor and driver designs, including 2D and 3D modeling and simulation.
Perform prototype testing and validation to verify the performance and reliability of motor and driver designs.
Work closely with suppliers and vendors to select components and materials for motor and driver systems, and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Provide technical support and expertise to other teams, including product development, testing, and manufacturing, throughout the product lifecycle.
Elaborate Technical Proposals, Product Brochures, Product Descriptions with proper scaling/sizing of motor drive system for specific market niches and different air vehicle platforms.
TECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
Experience with advanced motor design techniques such as finite element analysis (FEA), optimization algorithms, and multi-physics simulation tools.
Previous involvement in cross-functional teams for the development of electric vehicle propulsion systems or hybrid powertrains.
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for motor electromagnetic design.
Strong understanding of electromagnetic principles, motor control theory, and power electronics.
Experience with motor and driver testing and validation techniques, including dynamometer testing and thermal analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electric motors and drivers, such as IEEE, IEC, and UL standards.
High skills in Matlab Simulink and Simscape.
Willingness to work with, and travel to, domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary
PREFERRED:
Experience working with international suppliers and vendors for sourcing components and materials for motor and driver systems
Experience in integration of electronic hardware and motor control
Experience in testing high power (100kw+) applications.
Experience with high voltage (600V+) motors
Experience with 6-phase motors;
