Job Details

From routine deliveries to high-risk pregnancies, parents have the reassurance that Cleveland Clinic Akron General offers Level III Obstetric Service, the highest level of care available in obstetrics. Our specially trained staff, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and anesthesiologists are available 24 hours a day. 


Expecting parents are also happy to learn that our private and spacious rooms are designed for labor and delivery while having special comforts. These features include rocking chairs, birthing balls, private bathrooms and showers and TVs for relaxation. Please feel free to bring in your own laptop, phone, or portable device with preferred music playlists.  


A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am—7:00pm.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Collect assessment data for assigned patients, including age specific physical and psychological aspects. 

  • Deliver direct care to patients as established in the patient's age specific plan of care, and case management conferences and according to established policies, procedures, and standards of care. 

  • Document procedures performed, care provided to patients and effectiveness of interventions/treatments. 

  • Reports to the registered nurse changes in condition, symptoms, and reactions of patients promptly and accurately. Collaborate with registered nurses to plan care for assigned patients. 

  • Safely administer and accurately chart medications according to established standards of care, policies, and procedures. 

  • Perform procedures, including discontinuing of IV lines as directed by registered nurse and in accordance with hospital policy/procedure. Monitor IV drip rates, IV sites for signs of redness and infiltration and reports findings to registered nurse. 

  • Assist other health care team members as needed to provide patient care and to perform related patient care activities. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Complete annual mandatory in-services, CPR certification and competency testing by required renewal dates. 

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing. 

  • Current license to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio. Drug certified by a program approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
