Senior Leader on the Finance team and part of the regional leadership team for one or more regions in the Company.  Leads day-to-day financial operations for one more regions and serves as primary point-of-escalation and contact to multiple operations executives and other senior operations leaders. This role will directly supervise and manage the career development and performance for one or more individuals on the finance and accounting team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Support

  • Collaborates with and develops strong relationships with operations leaders.

  • Leads management and regular updates to Regional and Corporate WIPs (Work in Progress Schedules).

  • Meets regularly with operations leaders to communicate operations results, KPI’s and opportunities for improvement and necessary action to protect the Company and customer’s financial interests.

  • Assists with administration of contract billing rates and associate chargeability metrics.

  • Reviews construction contracts and monitor’s project activity for compliance with contract provisions.

  • Assists with management of Company’s project-specific insurance products and minimizes risk and maximizes returns of those products.

  • Shared responsibility for preventing profit fade, project slippage and forecasting project revenue accurately.

  • Leads risk mitigation and resolution for liens, bond claims and other operational risk matters within region.

  • Ensure project regulatory and tax compliance within the geography of the regions.

  • Travel to regional offices for project financial/risk meetings and project site visits (up to 15%).

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Takes lead on any owner/customer project audits for contract compliance.

  • Supports Company’s annual financial statement audit, specifically for inquiries related to operations.

  • Coordinates with and prepares reports for VP, Finance and CFO.

  • Assists with implementation of new required private company accounting guidance, as necessary.

Management Responsibilities

  • Preserves, protects and vigorously defends the Company’s assets, business and interests.

  • Delegation of tasks to junior accounting staff and responsible for accuracy and completion of delegated tasks.

  • Communicates clear performance expectations and standards to team members.

  • Communicates regularly with associates regarding expectations, goals, and performance, including performance reviews and regular feedback throughout the year.

  • Assists with hiring, separation, development and retention of finance and accounting team associates.

  • Proactively seeks feedback and input from associates to improve processes.

  • Actively involved in CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association) and positively represents the Company and self in one or more professional, not-for-profit and other community organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements before going into job)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other Business-related degree.

  • CPA certification preferred. Other certifications considered include: CCIFP or CMA.

  • Post-education degree – Master’s, MBA, or other relevant degrees and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead department initiatives.

  • Advanced knowledge of construction industry financial and risk management practices.

  • 10+ years of Accounting/Finance experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications.
