Job Summary:
At Wellstar, we believe in honoring every voice and enhancing the health and well-being of every person we serve. As a Development Officer for Hospice Giving, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead a deeply meaningful program that honors lives, legacies, and community compassion.
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 80-120 donors and prospects, driving strategy and execution of tribute and memorial giving, leading a passionate volunteer Hospice Advisory Committee, and cultivating deep community and clinical engagement. This role offers the chance to bring innovative thinking and heartfelt leadership to one of the most personal and profound areas of healthcare philanthropy.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Fundraising
* Maintain and manage a personal portfolio of 80-120 active donors and prospects, prioritizing those who have capacity at $10,000.
* Collaborate with Regional Development Officers and Annual Fund teams to achieve ambitious revenue goals.
* Create individualized donor engagement strategies that align donor interests with system priorities.
* Lead all stewardship and cultivation efforts for Hospice-related donors, including events, communications, and recognition.
* Partner with clinical leaders to build and implement a robust grateful patient giving program, aligned with hospice values and experiences.
* Set and track monthly activity goals that generate philanthropic support.
Oversee the Hospice Advisory Committee
* Lead all operations, communications, and engagement of the volunteer Hospice Board of Advisors.
* Organize, implement, and follow up on all committee meetings, including strategic planning and execution of initiatives.
* Provide support to the Board Chair and liaise with Foundation leadership to advance key priorities.
* Build a compelling case for support and drive all tribute, memorial, and hospice-specific fundraising efforts.
Build Strategic Internal Relationships
* Serve as a connector between Foundation efforts and clinical or administrative leaders.
* Educate leaders and staff in identifying potential donors and collaborating on philanthropic initiatives.
* Provide ongoing updates to the Executive Director.
Serve as Community Liaison and Brand Ambassador
* Represent Wellstar Foundation in community and hospice-related events.
* Educate community members, committee volunteers, and donors about Wellstars mission, hospice services, and giving opportunities.
* Stay informed on service line offerings and provide appropriate follow-up to community inquiries.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Business Administration/Management or Bachelors Communications Studies/Speech Communication and Rhetoric or Bachelors Marketing or Bachelors Other
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 5 years years fundraising experience Required and
Experience with healthcare fundraising Preferred
Required Minimum Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Raisers Edge database.
