Software Engineer Intern

This internship can be completed from our San Mateo or San Diego offices or Fully Remote

 

About the Team: 

The Quicksilver Team is responsible for building and maintaining reliable, high-performance server services that are critical to powering both the PS4 and PS5. The team oversees 24 microservices and 3 internal tools, ensuring smooth functionality across platforms.

 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Learn the architecture of the components maintained by the team for PS5 services.
  • Maintain, update, and extend RESTful Web Services APIs.
  • Work with algorithms that handle massive data sets to power these APIs.
  • Produce detailed design and development documentation.
  • Develop using agile methodology.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with a specialization in Machine Learning.
  • Projected to graduate by Spring 2026
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies (e.g., unit testing frameworks, CI/CD).
  • Familiarity with backend software development, particularly in Java.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with backend services.
  • Proficiency in languages like Java and asynchronous web application programming.
  • Familiarity with databases like NoSQL and SQL.
  • Experience with applications such as Kubernetes and AWS.
  • Experience with automated testing.

 

Eligibility:

  • Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
  • Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
  • Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
  •  Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

 

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$41.50$50 USD
