Interventional Vascular Technologist

Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works 6:00am – 2:30pm with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing.
Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.
Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.
Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams.

Physical Requirements:
Requires sitting at a workstation or desk; requires standing; work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
Work requires finger dexterity and eye hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.
Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
