Our Virtual Hosting Crew excels in building and maintaining resilient and scalable infrastructures for seamless application hosting. Focused on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, the team ensures reliable, secure environments that support development speed, whilst ensuring service stability.

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in enhancing and managing our hosting infrastructures. Bringing your expertise in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, and distributed storage systems, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and automating platforms, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring platform stability and high availability. This role supports a high-availability setup, balancing innovation and operational stability to provide scalable, reliable resources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining scripts and automation workflows using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
• Leveraging VMware and OpenStack to create, manage, and scale virtual machines and resources in a multi-tenant setup.
• Using tools like Prometheus and Grafana for proactive monitoring, handling on-call rotations, and ensuring rapid incident response and resolution.
• Managing distributed storage systems with tools such as CEPH and MinIO, ensuring data availability, resilience, and performance.
• Configuring and maintaining network connectivity and load balancing with Calico, PowerDNS, and AVI Load Balancing, optimising network efficiency and security.
• Partnering with development teams to enhance deployment pipelines, optimise performance, and ensure the infrastructure meets the needs of application services.
• Utilising monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana for proactive system health checks and to manage on-call incident responses.
• Set up, manage, and scale resources using VMware, CEPH, and OpenStack, with a focus on efficiency and fault tolerance.

Key Skills and Experience

• Tenured Platform Engineer with DevOps and SRE practices in complex enterprise environments.  
• Solid understanding of cloud-native technologies, networks, virtualisation, and containerisation (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
• Distributed Storage expertise using systems such as Systems eg. CEPH, MinIO.
• Familiarity with container networking (Calico) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools.
• Experience with AVI Load Balancer for software-defined load balancing.
• Strong background in deploying and managing monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Splunk) to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Proficiency in scripting and development languages (Python, Go, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Strong knowledge of VMware, OpenStack, and infrastructure as code tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native storage solutions, and network configuration.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Github actions, Cloud Formation.
