Position Description

Exercise Physiologist will work in conjunction with nutritionists, mindfulness coaches, spa and wellness practitioners in a luxury resort setting, while leveraging evidenced-based content and technology, deliver the best practices in exercise physiology.  At Sensei, we balance purpose with play. Guests enjoy health coaching, 1:1 nutrition, fitness, meditation and mindset sessions, body treatments, educational lectures and a variety of outdoor activities – all designed to expand awareness and connection. The Sensei guide leverages data, self-awareness, self-efficacy and safety to deliver our guest experience through guided sessions with our guests. Combining spaces and environments to imbue feelings of safety and ease; domain expertise to interpret objective data and craft a personalized wellness plan; and health coaching to communicate this information in an empowering, affirming manner. Sensei has designed the guide program to support our guest in achieving greater wellbeing. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as expert in the field of exercise physiology and the movement sciences
  • Conduct 1:1 training and diagnostic sessions to educate, motivate and inspire the adoption of healthy movement practices
  • Direct the end-to-end guest experience, from initial consultation and assessment to their last send off session for life after Sensei
  • Create educational content and lead lectures and workshops
  • Facilitate the end-to-end guest experience, from arrival to departure and beyond
  • Able to analyze, interpret and make deductions based on motivational interviewing and agility test, Vo2 and Force Plate analyses and results
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement that involves the comparison and evaluation of possible courses of action
  • Ensure confidentiality, ethics and client trust is protected at all times
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and refine services
  • Use principles of health coaching to support guests in pursuing the personal growth
  • Serve as an ambassador of Sensei for guests, partners, and media
  • Ensures all guest requests are communicated and completed
  • Ability to monitor and observe client performance indoors and outside in daylight and lowlight evening conditions
  • Customer Service – Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
  • Teamwork - Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers
  • Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Graduate Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or Human Movement Science
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of exercise physiology, kinesiology, or human movement science
  • 2+ year experience coaching or instructing as a certified practitioner in one of the following disciplines Yoga, Meditation or Group or Team Fitness

Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities

  • Graduate Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or Human Movement Science
  • Proficiency in multiple movement modalities and disciplines
  • Experience with various populations and ability levels
  • Experience working in a lab utilizing: VO2 max, FMS, gate analysis, force plates, and other assessments
  • Accredited certification in heath or wellness coaching
  • Passion to empower individuals seeking to optimize health and lifestyle
  • Passion for continuing education, professional development and personal growth
  • Proficient in Apple iOS, Office 365, and/or technology systems
  • Efficient time management
  • Prepared to create and deliver educational content

Preferred Experience

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Certified practitioner in fitness, yoga or meditation from respected credentialing body.
  • Graduate Degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology or Human Movement Science 
  • Accredited certification in heath or wellness coaching
