Key Position Details:

  • .8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks)
  • 8-hour, day/evening/night shifts
  • Every 3rd weekend rotation
  • SEIU represented position

Job Description:

Performs 12 lead EKGs hospital wide, edits physician interpreted EKGs, applies holter and cardiac monitors, completes high level disinfection of the "OR and Tee" probes.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Performs artifact free 12 lead EKGs
    • Uses proper skin prep and lead placement.
    • Competently uses all EKG cart functions.
    • Edits physician interpreted EKGs.
    • Uses Muse functions to send EKGs to outreach and change/update demographics and other data.
  • Applies Holter monitors and cardiac event monitors/patches
    • Uses proper skin prep and lead placement for each device.
    • Instructs patients in use and how to return monitor.
  • Preps and monitors for cardiac stress test
    • Maintains knowledge of multiple cardiac stress tests that are performed.
    • Uses proper skin prep and lead placement for each test.
    • Documents heart rate and blood pressure during exercise.
    • Removes leads from patient, and prepares patient for discharge.
    • Cleans equipment and restocks rooms.
  • Communicates with patient
    • Greets and prepares the patient for test, explaining actions.
    • Responds to questions and other needs promptly.
    • Ensures patient is in safe situation at all times.
  • Participates in maintaining safe environment
    • Cleans equipment using high level disinfection process.
    • Uses equipment per department and manufacturer guidelines.
    • Protects patient, self and others from injury by using proper equipment and body mechanics for transfers, lifts and transport.
  • Communicates with supervisor and team
    • Reports promptly concerns related to patient condition.
    • Identifies issues with equipment and reports to appropriate resource.
    • Communicates ideas and suggestions for process improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 0 to 2 years previous 12 lead EKG or EKG monitoring


Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0 to 2 years Medical Terminology, knowledge in cardiac rhythms


Licenses/Certifications

  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon Hire
