Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a meticulous and experienced FX Payments Manual QA professional to ensure the quality and accuracy of cross-border payments and foreign exchange processes. This role involves designing and executing test cases for FX payment systems, identifying and tracking issues, and collaborating closely with development teams to enhance system reliability. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high standards of software quality, supporting business operations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards in a dynamic payments environment.

Software Requirements
 

Required Software Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies (manual testing)

  • Experience testing cross-border payment systems, FX wire processing, and related message standards (ISO20022, SWIFT MT, MX)

  • Familiarity with SQL for data validation and querying

  • Experience with ticketing and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM)

Preferred Software Skills:

  • Automated testing tools such as Selenium, TestNG, or similar

  • Experience with payment testing tools or platforms

Overall Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test cases for FX payment systems, including wire processing and message validation

  • Identify, reproduce, and document bugs, and work with developers to resolve issues

  • Validate that payments and FX transactions comply with industry standards and customer requirements

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, developers, and operations to ensure high-quality releases

  • Participate in test plan reviews, defect triage, and test progress reporting

  • Support regression testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) preparations

  • Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, scripts, and results to ensure traceability and compliance

Technical Skills (By Category)

  • Testing Methodologies: Manual testing, defect tracking, test case design (required)

  • Payment Systems Knowledge: Cross-border payments, FX wire processing, ISO20022, SWIFT MT/MX (required)

  • Databases/Data Management: SQL querying, data validation (required)

  • Automation Tools: Selenium, TestNG, or equivalent (preferred)

  • Development Tools: JIRA, test management platforms, version control (required)

  • Domain Knowledge: FX market processes, foreign exchange workflows, and compliance (required)

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 years of manual QA testing experience within the payments domain

  • Proven knowledge of FX payment systems, cross-border payments, and related message standards (ISO20022, SWIFT)

  • Experience testing payment processing platforms and related financial software

  • Strong background in defect lifecycle management and test documentation

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred

  • Knowledge of test automation tools is an advantage but not mandatory

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Design, develop, and execute test cases focused on FX payments and wire processing

  • Document defects thoroughly and track their resolution

  • Engage proactively with developers and business teams to clarify requirements and improve quality

  • Conduct regression and retesting activities for ongoing releases

  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and defect triage meetings

  • Review system configurations and test environment setups to ensure accuracy

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA practices and tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

  • Professional QA certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE, or similar are preferred

  • Experience working with FX and payments systems in a large enterprise environment
