Job Summary:
The Oracle/SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing and maintaining both Oracle and SQL Server database systems. They handle the installation, configuration, and maintenance of these databases, ensuring their performance, integrity, and security. The DBA collaborates with other IT professionals to implement database changes, troubleshoot issues, and optimize database performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle and SQL Server database software and related products.
2. Create and maintain database objects, such as tables, indexes, and views, in both Oracle and SQL Server databases.
3. Design and implement database backup and recovery strategies for Oracle and SQL Server databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
4. Monitor and optimize performance of Oracle and SQL Server databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, such as connectivity problems, data corruption, and query optimization.
6. Manage database security for both Oracle and SQL Server, including user access control, data encryption, and database auditing.
7. Plan and implement database migrations, upgrades, and patching for both Oracle and SQL Server databases.
8. Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize database schemas and queries for both Oracle and SQL Server databases.
9. Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, database diagrams, and operating procedures for both Oracle and SQL Server databases.
10. Stay up-to-date with Oracle and SQL Server database technology trends, best practices, and industry standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Oracle/SQL Server DBA or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server database architecture, installation, configuration, and administration.
- Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices for both Oracle and SQL Server.
- Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL scripting for Oracle and SQL Server, respectively.
- Familiarity with database performance monitoring and tuning tools for both Oracle and SQL Server.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot database issues in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.
- Knowledge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for both Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Exadata, and Microsoft Azure SQL Database.
- Knowledge of Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Data Guard, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.
- Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and other database management tools.
- Understanding of database replication and data synchronization concepts for both Oracle and SQL Server.
