Maintenance Technician II (MT II)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician II independently performs preventive and corrective maintenance on automated systems, including moderate electrical troubleshooting, controls components, and mechanical repairs. This role identifies failures, reduces repeat downtime, & improves PM quality.

Responsibilities

· Execute PMs and corrective work on conveyors, sorters, merge/divert devices, singulators, scanners, VFD-driven motors, and basic pneumatics.

· Diagnose and repair moderate complexity electrical/mechanical issues: photo eyes, encoders, prox switches, motor starters, relays, VFD faults, and power distribution components (within qualification).

· Use test equipment (e.g., multimeter) for basic electrical troubleshooting (voltage, continuity, 24VDC/120VAC checks) in alignment with site safety standards.

· Improve equipment reliability through repeat-failure analysis, proposing PM enhancements and part standardization.

· Support planned downtime work, equipment changeovers, and minor retrofit installs.

· Maintain accurate CMMS documentation, including failure codes, parts usage, and corrective actions.

· Participate in reliability activities: downtime reviews, critical spares evaluation, and basic condition monitoring.

· Assist with 5S/housekeeping in maintenance areas, parts organization, and tool accountability.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED.

· 1-3 years industrial maintenance experience (automation/DC preferred) or equivalent combination of experience and technical education.

· Demonstrated ability to perform intermediate mechanical repairs and electrical troubleshooting.

· Working knowledge of LOTO and safe work practices; ability to interpret basic electrical diagrams and mechanical drawings.

· Basic understanding of VFDs, basic PLC/HMI interaction (viewing statuses/alarms), servo systems exposure.

· CMMS experience (Maximo, SAP PM, eMaint, UpKeep, etc.).

· OSHA safety training, NFPA 70E awareness (site-specific requirements apply).

Skills

· Structured troubleshooting, reliability mindset, clear communication with operations, and prioritization under pressure.

Physical & Work Environment

· Stand/walk for extended periods; climb ladders/stairs; work at heights; lift up to ~50 lbs with/without reasonable accommodation; flexibility to work OT as needed & weekends if necessary; work around moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.

Hiring Range:

$25.08 USD - $31.35 USD per hour

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
