Are you a qualified marine engineer seeking hands-on experience in dockyard operations, including vessel dry docking and maintenance activities?
If so, we are currently accepting expressions of interest to join our Docking Engineer candidate pool, where you will be considered for short-term opportunities to support future vessel dockings across Australia.
What You Can Look Forward To
As a Docking Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing expert engineering support during vessel docking operations. Your responsibilities will include preparing vessels for lifting, conducting maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and overseeing contractors to uphold quality and safety protocols.
What You Will Do
Your key responsibilities will include:
Prepare vessels and equipment for lifting and refloating operations.
Maintain vessel logbooks and perform Planned Maintenance System (PMS) tasks during docking.
Supervise contractors to ensure adherence to safety standards and company procedures.
Conduct inspections of tanks and enclosed spaces and participate in sea trials post-docking.
Ensure compliance with classification society, flag state, and company standards.
What You Will Need to Succeed
To thrive in this position, you will demonstrate:
An Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency or higher
Proven track record in the maritime industry, with specific experience in vessel operations, maintenance, and engineering.
Experience in harbour towage operations will be highly regarded
Familiarity with the standards and procedures of Classification Societies, particularly Lloyd's Register, to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with various stakeholders
Accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables, from maintenance logs to compliance documentation.
Composure during emergencies or high-stress scenarios to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
Competency in using applications like Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
Familiarity with using Planned Maintenance System databases to track and manage maintenance activities and schedules.
Familiarity with using PMS databases to track and manage maintenance activities and schedules.
Forklift, dogging and enclosed space entry training certifications are advantageous.
Due to the location of our vessel dockings, preference will be given to candidates who reside close by to Fremantle, Brisbane or in Tasmania.
