A Brief Overview
The Senior Accountant, Investment Accounting will be responsible for owning the work assigned and ensuring the tasks within are completed timely, accurately and in compliance with all regulatory and financial controls.
What you will do
1. Financial close:
Use judgement to ensure data entered to transactional system or via manual journal entry is necessary, complete and accurate, and ensure quality support is attached.
Analyze and validate various data points and identify and research issues or discrepancies
Review and compare data from the general ledger to other sources to ensure it reconciles and research discrepancies to ensure the financial reporting is accurate and the results understood.
Extract data from various sources to create new reports. Review and analyze data for reasonableness and provide commentary where applicable on events before sharing with internal and external audiences.
Learn and master navigating investment accounting systems and technology tools to complete work efficiently and effectively, including suggesting improvements as applicable.
2. Internal controls: Support the team by ensuring that financial risks are understood, controls are followed, concerns are escalated, and documentation is updated timely.
3. Audit-related activities: Evaluate auditor requests to pull relevant supporting documents for testing and respond to auditor inquiries in a professional manner.
4. Collaborate cross-functionally: Engage and work in a professional manner with all levels of employees across all regions and teams in RGA. This role most often will receive inquiries from Finance and Investments where expertise may be required to explain investment accounting information.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts / Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience required
Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
2+ years accounting or auditing experience
Preferred:
Master’s Degree
CPA certification
Skills and Abilities
Required:
Knowledge of accounting/finance, including broad business practices, investment accounting, GAAP and/or statutory requirements.
Investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to balance detail with larger objectives.
Good business communication skills, with the ability to adapt the message to the audience.
Organized with ability to balance priorities, meet deadlines and take initiative for completing deliverables.
Ability to work independently on routine tasks, collaborate and gives guidance within a team environment.
Ability to follow established procedures and identify outliers for further analysis.
Coachable and curious – willing to try and propose new ideas and open to feedback on what is working and what is not to facilitate individual professional development
Preferred:
Experience with Power BI, PowerQuery, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL/Query skills.
Leadership experience – work or personal

Compensation Range:
$65,050.00 - $92,400.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
