The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Supervisor to support General Accounting functions. The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizational assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Payment to vendors and reimbursement of employee expense reports.
  • Provide and prepare remittance list and respond to any and all questions from vendors.
  • Upload bank information into QuickBooks, Contpaq and other accounting systems and reconcile daily.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Verify and/or complete payments of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts. Reconcile at least monthly.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Assist and/or file tax forms with federal, state and local government agencies.
  • Analyze monthly results and provide variance explanations vs. budget.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections. Reconciles accounts at least monthly.
  • Assist with Month End process by recurring journal entries, accruals, adjustments and reclassification.
  • Consolidate Mexico and US monthly results and prepare financial packages for corporate.
  • Document and review current accounting practices, identify areas of opportunity for improvement within current practices and procedures.  
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree.
  • 3  years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Expert MS Excell skills including: Vlookups, Pivot Tables and Data Mining Analysis.
  • Hands on experience with accounting software such as Quickbooks, SAP, etc.
  • Experience with general ledger functions, such as month end close procedures and account reconciliation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on a team as well as individually.
  • Builds relationships with other teams within the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish- if located in El Paso, TX office

Preferred

  • CPA or CMA
  • International accounting knowledge- specifically in Mexico- if located in El Paso, TX office
