The Epic Bridges and interface Analyst maintains HL7, X12, and CCDA interfaces using the Epic Bridges interface tool set. This requires a working knowledge of Epic workqueues, interface standards, and the ability to interpret interface specifications


This position requires extensive knowledge of Epic Bridges application and Interface engine development (Openlink, Cloverleaf, or Corepoint). It is the highest level application specialist and overall administrator of the system functionality.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Care, Nursing, Information Systems, or related specialty, and/or equivalent experience/training.

 Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)

• EpicCare Bridges

• Interface Engine with Corepoint, MIRTH, Openlink, or similiar technology

 Related Work Experience and Other Skills

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing with various levels of staff.
• Ability to take a medical center wide perspective
• Ability to work as a team player
• Ability to work in a cost effective manner
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge Epic Workbench report writing skills are strongly preferred.
• Positive role model for STAFF and other health care professionals
• Use of value management techniques for process improvement/cost savings

• Work Experience: 1-3 years
• Works with confidential patient information

 Job Roles

• Create and maintain Bridges interfaces in the Epic System.
• Investigates and resolves issues that arise with interfaces. If unable to resolve issues, the Project Leader opens a task with Epic for resolution.
• Communicates progress to the affected users routinely. Fields questions from physicians and staff on the use of the interfaces , error messages and all Epic interface tools as well as collecting feedback on changes needed.
• Creates interface workqueues and generates reports for users that will allow them to retrieve data in response to internal and external requests for interface message error correction. Create interface workqueues to address error resolution.
• Serves as the IT Department's liaison with Epic and opens service issues as required within the Epic Userweb web site. Maintains ownership of these tasks and frequently monitors, updates and completes tasks. Coordinates any system changes which affect other areas of the hospital with IS and requests the proper authorization as needed.
• Stays knowledgable of functionality improvements in new Epic versions and testing during upgrades; on an ongoing basis, takes advantage of available resources to improve knowledge and understanding of the system.
• Tests new releases and applies specialized knowledge and experience to the process to ensure that version upgrades function smoothly.
• Serves as a liaison with the IS department to facilitate communication between the interface team and the organizations partners and vendors during the upgrade process. Establish reasonable implementation timelines with input from program directors, IT and administrators.
• The position would be responsible for training and developing staff in managing Epic interface workqueues and error resolution.

• Has a working knowledge of interface engines with exposure to developing HL7 interfaces.
