ROLE SUMMARY
The Director, Compliance Counsel role will lead Pfizer’s Anti-Corruption Program Office, reporting to the Compliance, Quality & Risk Division’s ACPO, TPRM, Policy and Programs lead function covering core compliance policies. This position supports all commercial units and divisions within Pfizer, with the primary aim being to institute policy and process that helps efficiently and effectively mitigate the Company’s risk with respect to applicable anti-corruption laws and regulations.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The role serves as the lead of the Anti-Corruption Program Office and will support oversight of Pfizer’s ABAC program. Responsibilities include ownership of the ABAC policy and related guidance, develop training, support acquisition integration, support Commercial, Corporate Audit, GBS MEET, Legal and other key stakeholders, and otherwise lead and/or support key enterprise initiatives related to enhancing the anti-corruption program. It will lead or coordinate with teams covering various aspects of the program, from auditing/monitoring to systems and training.
Responsibilities also include:
Leading enterprise initiatives related to ABAC risk identification and mitigation, as well as recommend operational enhancements and support of strategic planning
Independently providing day-to-day legal guidance in response to specific ABAC matters (including Conflicts of Interest), including policy and process questions
Questions range from policy and process application, diligence, legal and contract requirements, to use/configuration of supporting systems and tools
Collaboration across the Compliance Division, including with regional and market compliance leads around the globe, to support ABAC improvements, inquiries, and opportunities
Providing support to Compliance Training on the content and training schedule for global ABAC training
Partnering with Corporate Audit regarding ABAC related audits including providing input to work plans, issue review, and audit reports
Providing support to risk management functions, including Monitoring and Analytics functions regarding monitoring activities, including:
Partnering on strategic related initiatives to enhance anti-corruption program monitoring, including of high-risk third parties
Coordinating across multiple functions to support ABAC compliance, including coordinating with other Compliance Division functions, the Risk Assessment functions and global Compliance Monitoring and Analytics team to proactively address ABAC compliance risks and inform policy and training initiatives
Support and provide relevant expertise with regard to Pfizer’s Third Party Risk Management Program
Foster strong relationships and alliances across the organization, including with key strategic partners such as other Compliance functions, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Corporate Governance, Legal, Finance, GBS, and Pfizer Digital
Represent Pfizer and/or participate, as appropriate, in external bodies focusing on anti-corruption and/or the pharmaceutical industry
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
J.D. degree or equivalent
7+ years of relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry or regulatory environment
5+ years of relevant legal training/experience
Ability to convey complex legal issues to clients in a clear and concise manner
Experience with corporate policy and SOP drafting and design; good understanding of corporate mindset as it pertains to policies and related training/communication
Experience with anti-corruption policies, laws, and regulations, including the FCPA and UK Bribery Act, and other relevant anti-corruption and conflicts of interest laws
Logical reasoning skills, as well as writing and organization
Must be a team leader and able to operate within cross-functional teams
Ability to provide innovative approaches and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to manage high volume workload and resolve pressing needs while tracking progress towards longer term goals
Strategic and proactive. Anticipates needs and able to prioritize quickly without explicit guidance. Attentive to detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry
In-house experience a plus
Able to understand and operate effectively in the Pfizer organization, particularly the enabling functions and business units
Digital tool experience and capabilities
