Job Details:

Mercer Medicine is searching for a Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatry for the clinic in Macon, Georgia.


 

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychiatric services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services, including charting in the electronic medical records system (Athena).

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat adults, adolescents, and children
    experiencing symptoms of a behavioral health disorders.

  • Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement and the state’s Nurse Practice Act.

  • Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and
    summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required.

  • Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment
    plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment
    interventions.

  • Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorders.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Master’s in Nursing with focus on Psychiatric nursing. Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health, and at least one year of experience in a general clinic situation, preferably a mental health facility. Candidate must provide a certificate of current liability insurance coverage. Has prescriptive authority by using our MD’s DEA or has their own DEA.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Competent in providing Basic Life Support (with current certification). Exam and Evaluates patient signs/symptoms and initiates treatment as indicated within their scope of practice

Must possess the ability to provide overall care including:

  • Developing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases;

  • Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits;

  • Emphasizing preventative care and disease management;

  • Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues.

Refers patients to appropriate medical/health care specialists when indicated. Has prescriptive authority by using our MD’s DEA or has their own DEA. Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills. Microsoft Office Applications and intermediate computer skills and experience or ability to utilize EMR (Athena). Able to work as team player with clinic colleagues and department as a whole.
