Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Sports Sponsorship Commercialization, is a key member of a small, high-performing team dedicated to strengthening the CVS brand in an increasingly competitive marketplace. This position calls for an experienced “strategy athlete” responsible for supporting comprehensive sponsorship strategies that align with our company's goals and objectives. This role requires a strategic marketer with a deep understanding of the sports industry and a proven track record in managing and activating high-value sponsorship deals.  Someone equipped to help bring our sport strategy to life through a retail lens by driving deeper customer engagement with our brand, products, and services.

This position will be responsible for partnering with teams such as enterprise brand strategy, media, marketing strategy, merchandising, store operations, creative and analytics with the goal of positioning CVS for sustained and innovative brand growth through sponsorships. Key responsibilities include supporting the activation of multi-year partnership agreements with the National Women’s Soccer League and United States Soccer Federation.   Additionally, there is an untapped opportunity related to partnerships with CPG suppliers who have their own sponsorships across major sports and are looking to uniquely activate at CVS.

The ideal candidate for this role will blend their expertise in sports sponsorship strategy with compelling activation abilities. Strong project management skills and the ability to build relationships across the enterprise are critical for success in this role.
 

Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic sponsorship plans to maximize revenue and brand exposure with a focus on retail activations
  • Bring deep-rooted expertise to evaluate and maximize our sponsorships and the value we get from them
  • Establish the sports sponsorship practice and step change and improve what we do today
  • Maximize CVS brand equity and financial value by evaluating how to activate sponsorships at the local store and community level
  • Identify optimization opportunities across existing sponsorship and build compelling recommendations around shifts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential sponsors.
  • Collaborate with marketing, merchandising and other business unit leaders to create compelling sponsorship activations
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to stay ahead in the industry
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sponsorship programs and make data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Prepare and present regular reports on sponsorship performance to senior management
     

Operationalize Enterprise Sports Sponsorship team:

  • Identify opportunities to grow our sponsorship portfolio to drive deeper brand consideration and engagement
  • Establish management routines and operating model
  • Partner closely with Front Store Marketing to bring sponsorship activations to life for the retail business
  • Maintain a forward-looking mindset, consistently evaluating growth opportunities for CVS specific to both direct sponsorships as well as third-party pass-through opportunities with CPG partners
  • Lead cross-functional partnerships to bring the sports strategy to life, ensuring strategic objectives are translated into actionable activations and outcomes
     

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in strategic sports sponsorship management
  • 4+ years of cross-functional experience, demonstrating ability to build relationships across diverse teams

  • Strong understanding of the sports industry and market dynamics
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively with a proven track record of brand activations
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, act decisively, and determine when to involve leadership versus when to drive initiatives independently.
  • Familiarity with retail dynamics and experience working cross-functionally with marketing, merchandising, and store operations partners
  • Experience working with CPG partners
  • Resilient and proactive “can-do” attitude, with a passion for removing barriers and influencing business units throughout sponsorship activations
  • Experience thriving and contributing within highly matrixed organizations

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required.
  • An MBA is strongly preferred
     

Travel Requirements

  • Travel is a component of the role, with a minimum of 25% expected for team activities, visits to stadiums, and engagement with other business segments as needed.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$82,940.00 - $199,144.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
