Job Profile:

The National Sales Manager, Surgical Field Sales UK will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our products in the eyecare industry. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strategic mindset, extensive sales expertise, and a deep understanding of the surgical and ophthalmic markets. The primary purpose of this position is to lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, develop and implement effective sales strategies, and ensure the achievement of sales targets and business objectives across the nation.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Leadership and Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop a nationwide sales team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Provide clear direction, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance reviews.

Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and plans to achieve company goals and expand market share in the surgical eyecare segment. Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities.

Sales Performance: Drive sales performance by setting ambitious targets, monitoring progress, and implementing corrective actions as needed. Utilize sales metrics and analytics to track performance and optimize sales activities.

Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, healthcare professionals, and industry stakeholders. Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction and loyalty through effective communication, service, and support.

Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including new markets, products, and partnerships. Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to launch new products and initiatives.

Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all sales activities comply with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards. Promote a culture of integrity and accountability within the sales team.

Budget Management: Develop and manage the sales budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and maximizing return on investment. Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising sales effectiveness.

Training and Development: Implement ongoing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the sales team. Stay current with industry developments and ensure the team is equipped with the latest product information and sales techniques.

Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates to senior management on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives. Prepare detailed reports and presentations as required.

What You’ll bring to Alcon:

  • A proven track record within leadership and sales experience, preferably in ophthalmic sales and medical devices

  • Excellent selling, relationship building and people-engagement skills

  • Expertise in the following areas: Surgical, medical devices, cataract surgery

  • Fluency in English (oral & written).

  • Ability to thrive in a surgical environment

  • Proven track record of success in sales

  • Experience and demonstrable success in new product launches

  • Professional manner, proficiency, attention to detail, outstanding personal organizational skills

  • Strong customer focus

  • Highly proactive

  • Above average technical disease area product and competitor product knowledge
