Position Summary
The Account Manager – Power is responsible for identifying, developing, and advancing commercial sales opportunities for Kodiak Power Solutions, with a primary focus on data center, hyperscaler, AI infrastructure, and other mission-critical power customers. This role supports Kodiak’s growth strategy by developing customer relationships, qualifying large-scale distributed power opportunities, coordinating technical and commercial proposals, and helping structure reliable, cost-competitive power solutions that meet customer requirements for speed to power, uptime, scalability, and long-term operational performance.
The Account Manager serves as the primary day-to-day commercial contact for assigned power opportunities and customer accounts, partnering closely with sales leadership, engineering, operations, finance, legal, and customer support to move opportunities from initial engagement through contract execution and ongoing account management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities-
- Identify, develop, and advance new power sales opportunities for Kodiak Power Solutions, with emphasis on data centers, hyperscalers, AI infrastructure, utilities, industrial customers, and other mission-critical power users.
- Build and maintain relationships with data center developers, hyperscale and colocation customers, EPCs, utilities, OEMs, fuel suppliers, consultants, strategic partners, and other key stakeholders involved in power procurement and infrastructure development.
- Qualify opportunities using established commercial, technical, credit, and return criteria before advancing them through the sales process.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline of distributed power, bridge power, prime power, and long-term power infrastructure opportunities.
- Manage assigned opportunities from initial customer engagement through proposal development, commercial negotiation, contract execution, and transition to operations.
- Coordinate customer meetings, executive presentations, technical discussions, site visits, proposal reviews, and internal opportunity reviews.
- Partner with engineering, estimating, operations, supply chain, finance, and legal teams to develop customer-specific power solutions, including generation equipment, balance of plant, fuel logistics, interconnection considerations, emissions requirements, and project execution assumptions.
- Assist in developing pricing strategies, commercial terms, contract structures, and risk allocation for short-term bridge power and long-term power service agreements.
- Support contract handoff and project mobilization following award by coordinating with operations, project management, finance, billing, and customer support teams.
- Monitor and communicate market trends, competitor activity, customer demand, equipment availability, data center power requirements, and emerging technologies impacting distributed power solutions.
- Provide recommendations on target customers, priority markets, strategic partnerships, cross-sell opportunities, and commercial initiatives that support Kodiak’s power growth strategy.
- Develop trusted advisor relationships with customers by understanding their power needs, project timelines, reliability requirements, procurement process, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity forecasts, customer activity updates, revenue projections, and weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
- Support continuous improvement of commercial tools, pricing models, proposal templates, contract processes, and sales enablement resources for Kodiak Power Solutions.
- Maintain ownership of assigned customer accounts after contract execution by partnering with Operations, Finance, and Customer Support to manage customer relationships, facilitate operational support, monitor accounts receivable and aging, resolve commercial issues, and identify opportunities for renewals, expansions, additional megawatts, and related services.
Education, Experience and Training
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Energy Management, or related field preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in power generation, distributed power, data center infrastructure, utilities, energy infrastructure, equipment rental, or related commercial markets.
- General understanding of distributed power generation, natural gas engines, turbines, electrical distribution, substations, fuel supply, interconnection, emissions considerations, and balance-of-plant requirements preferred.
- Experience developing and closing complex commercial opportunities with long sales cycles, multiple stakeholders, technical diligence, and structured contract negotiations.
- Experience working with engineering, operations, finance, legal, and project teams to develop customized customer solutions.
- Experience serving data centers, hyperscalers, utilities, industrial, oil and gas, or other critical infrastructure customers preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex power generation, commercial, and operational concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
Certifications
Relevant industry certifications, commercial training, or professional development related to power generation, energy infrastructure, project development, or sales leadership are desired.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working on a computer may be required.
- The role will require travel to customer sites, company locations, industry events, and other business meetings.
- Domestic travel, including overnight stays, may be required based on business needs and could be up to 75%.
